Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen made an appearance in Melbourne and Sydney recently on a popular speaking tour of Australia. Some Sydney fans paid as much as $1500 for a VIP Meet & Greet ticket to connect with the former Two and A Half Men star who holds a strong fan-base in Australia.

An Evening with Charlie Sheen hosted by Richard Wilkins gave Sydney audiences an insight into the actor’s career as he took them through some of the defining moments in the making of movies such as Platoon, Wall St, Young Guns, Major League and Hotshots. Sheen discussed his multiple roles as his career took shape as a youngster in Hollywood.

In 2003 Sheen received his big break with CBS sitcom Two and A Half Men earning close to $1.8 million an episode at his peak in 2010, and a huge success around the world. Since then, Charlie’s life headed into a downward spiral.

What could go wrong? “Everything said Charlie. There was a lot going on at the time and felt he never really had a voice in anything.” His private life had contributed to the meltdown.

He felt he let a lot of people down including the fans of his show, his family, and extended family.

Now a changed man, Sheen is keen to use his professional experience constructively. Perhaps even a re-boot of the old series if it was ever possible, this time at a much cheaper rate.

What’s the next step? Looking at images of his family on the screen, Sheen feels inspired to put his kids first (five children and 3 grand-daughters), and other things later. He lives close to his parents in Malibu and often consults with his veteran father, Martin Sheen as a sounding board on future projects.
