Disney always the home of “G rated” entertainment for children, created “Touchstone Pictures” to make and release proper movie films for the parents, that were the opposite of the required Disney outlook. Using only the Disney name on VOD Disney+ means that TV Episodes and Cinema Movies are being chopped up into “G rated” entertainment perfect for children, that is uniquely unsuitable for parents.
Unfortunately altered by the intervention of censorship, so some remaining parts of Ron Howard’s SPLASH (1984) are currently showing in HD on Disney’s new VOD service Disney+ . . . MAY YOU LIVE IN INTERESTING TIMES . . . Because typically only available in a heavily censored form on Disney’s new VOD service Disney+ moreover Madison is a female mermaid, and is apparently not wearing a swimsuit, but is wearing a thick huge long mane of blonde hair.
Of course it is still implied that she is a nude/naked female (or near-nudity), simply because everyone knows that mermaids do not wear swimsuits. All the female nudity is all non-sexual nudity used to cleverly generate comedy, and all the nudity is essential to the comedy storyline. Of course unknowingly you will quickly find that each and every moment of female nudity, has been digitally retouched or digitally zoomed in, and even some alternative material has been inserted to maintain the original running time.
The incredibly obvious and quite unfortunate censorship choices made in 2020 when using Computer Graphics (CG) to remove all of the female nudity, that was contractually provided by Daryl Hannah in 1984, should be compared with the precise quality of the visual effects used in King Kong (1933).
YES the complete original 1984 theatrical version is still available on DVD and is exactly the version that the director intended you to see, and this entertaining romantic comedy is set in New York, the forever classic “fish out of water” mermaid romance comedy, starring Tom Hanks and with Daryl Hannah as Madison the female mermaid.
From 00:01 to 00:06 minutes – On VOD Disney+ before the beginning of the film, you get an index card, which states that the film is not the original version but a modified edition, with new image content quite unlike what you remember. However the running time remains essentially the same as the DVD.
From 24:56 minutes – After their first kiss, Madison (Daryl Hannah) has exposed buttocks whilst jumping back into the water to swim away from Allen Bauer (Tom Hanks), and her already long blonde mane was digitally extended to cover her naked bottom with poor-quality digital fur. YES you are supposed to guess that Madison is not wearing a swimsuit.

From 27:13 minutes – Completely new scene added to the VOD Disney+ version, where Madison swims along in front of the sunken ship. YES you are supposed to guess that Madison is not wearing a swimsuit. In the DVD version, we see Madison swimming head-on into the sunken ship.
From 29:00 minutes – Madison has exposed buttocks when she walks onto the land outside the Statue of Liberty, the image was zoomed in, to prevent her bottom from being visible. YES you are supposed to guess that because Madison is a mermaid, she is still not wearing a swimsuit.
From 86:54 minutes – Madison is in the lab in a water tank, image zoomed in, to conceal her chest. YES you are supposed to guess that because Madison is a mermaid, she is still not wearing a swimsuit.
From 104:34 minutes – Scuba divers try to grab Madison, Scuba divers re-inserted back into the picture so that her chest is not visible. YES you are supposed to guess that because Madison is a mermaid, she is still not wearing a swimsuit.
