BLUEBACK is an ecological moral fable from the pen of acclaimed author Tim Winton and adapted for the screen by director Robert Connolly.
When the film was first discussed by Winton and Connolly it was proposed that the film be an animation movie as it is impossible to train a blue groper.
However, in order to produce a live action film, the blue groper was in fact a puppet. The story is a battle by the book’s heroine Dora Jackson and her children to fight off greedy developers and callous spear fisherman who would inevitably kill the fish.
The film attracted a glittering array of established and young stars who walked the Blue Carpet at the Hoyts Entertainment Quarter. They included Eric Bana, Mia Wasikowska, Radha Mitchell, Ilsa Fogg and Ariel Donohue.
The film is scheduled for release on 1 January 2023.
