BITTERSWEET PRODUCTIONS TO PRESENT ACTING WITH HONOUR : THREE ONE ACT PLAYS COMING TO THE ETERNITY

In late January 2026, Bittersweet Productions will be putting on their  first  production for the year.

This is a company well worth supporting. Their  goal is to build a sustainable model  for community theatre. Bittersweet provides some basic remuneration to the actors and directors who are engaged for a season. In a modest way they are recognising the skill, immense effort, and time they put in creating performances. This is particularly important at a time when AI is threatening already precarious employment.

They are doing their little bit to support actors and creatives. They believe that their training, skills and experience should be rewarded fiscally. This is a rare commitment across the community theatre sector. The rest of the company is made up of volunteers.

The company is dedicated to curating and performing short works by famous and not so famous playwrights. For their inaugural production for 2026, ACTING WITH HONOUR, they will be putting on a trilogy  of short plays. They are –

THE TWELVE -POUND LOOK by J.M.Barrie, directed by Sarah Carradine, and starring Dimitri Armatas as Sir Harry, Charlotte McKee-Wright as Lady Sims, Julia Burns as Kate, Antony Gleeson as Toombes.

PROCEDURE by Joyce Carol Oates directed by Sarah Carradine and starring Andrea Blight as Nurse A, Charlotte McKee-Wright as Nurse B.

PURGATORY by  Steven Berkoff directed by Richard Cotter and starring John   Grinston as John, Gina Lilly as Sarah, Marty O’Neill as Ted, and Tricia Youlden as Betty

The productions of Joyce Carol Oates’s play PROCEDURE and Steve Berkoff’s play PURGATORY are Australian premiere productions.

This trilogy of short plays will be presented on the 23rd and 24th January 2026 at the Eternity Playhouse, 39 Burton Street, Darlinghurst.
