Bittersweet Productions has announced the details of its three one act plays with the theme, KNOWING HOW IT ENDS?
The plays are by celebrated playwrights Caryl Churchill, David Ives and Christopher Durang.
In Caryl Churchill’s Seagulls (1978) an entirely ordinary woman’s life has become extraordinary through her possession of telekinetic powers. What begins as curiosity quickly spirals into exploitation, as scientists, opportunists and spectators all seek ownership over her gift. Beneath the comedy lies a poignant meditation on creativity itself — its mystery, its fragility and the fear that it may suddenly vanish.
David Ives’ hilarious Time Flies (1997) offers a tender and delightfully eccentric reflection on mortality. Love, longing and existential panic all within the span of a single day, reminding audiences with warmth and irony that existence is both fleeting and precious. David Attenborough makes an appearance.
Christopher Durang’s beloved farce The Actor’s Nightmare (1981) plunges directly into the terror of performance. George, an accountant with no theatrical experience whatsoever, inexplicably finds himself onstage opposite actors performing scenes from classic plays. Completely lost, he improvises wildly while everyone around him behaves as though nothing is amiss. Durang’s comedy gleefully captures that universal dread of being exposed, unprepared and utterly out of one’s depth.

Bittersweet Productions season KNOWING HOW IT ENDS? is playing the Eternity Playhouse, 39 Burton Street, Darlinghurst. Performances are Friday 21st May at 7pm and Saturday 22nd May at 2pm and 7pm.
