A full circle moment for many Australian fans of Ariana DiLorenzo who’m first had the pleasure of relating to this New York comedic and musical pop embodiment through their social media accounts. I recall scrolling through my feed to come across a very passionate, keyboard punching, woman staring down the lens of her camera sharing life experience along with an uplifting pep talk that made you laugh AKA “piano chats”.
Ariana took to the floor of the comedy stage at the intimate Enmore Whipbird Wine Bar venue on Thursday 23rd April, her first Sydney Show! Inviting us to indulge in the ‘6 stages of a breakup ‘ as part of the the release of her Breakup Variety Hour visual album and one-woman show . Each stage includes an honest, cringeworthy and hilarious insight into the oh so relatable breakup truths of Ariana’s personal story. Each step followed by an original performance showcasing Ariana’s song writing, vocal talents and theatrical flair.
Thursday nights crowd were initially reluctant to open up with their own stories but that didn’t phase the comedian, encouraging dating stories from the audience engaging everyone as part of the act, including the encore! Ariana’s quick witted improvisations to adapt to the crowds energy only made the performance more entertaining and comical.
If you’ve ever said “I’m fine”, dyed your hair, felt delusional, had some questionable dating experiences after a heartbreak and have managed to come out the other side… this show and album is for you.
