Australian National Theatre Live is  a unique arts initiative, transforming Australia’s best loved theatre into a film format.  Next up is AWAY , filmed at Melbourne’s famous Malthouse Theatre, this is a co-production with Sydney Theatre Company.

Michael Gow’s AWAY – an absolute Australian classic is initially releasing in Sydney at Dendy Opera Quays and Newtown and at 25 Independent cinemas nationwide.  This  digitised theatre will eventually be seen in regional and remote areas that generally have no access to theatre.

Australian National Theatre Live filmed this production with 8 x 4K HD cameras in a single “live” performance with a packed audience.
This cinema event is different from any film experience. You have a front row seat to watch the very best actors delivering world class performances.  Using digital innovations in the recording, distribution and exhibition industry enables ANTLive to produce, share, screen and promote theatre to all Australians no matter how remote.

AWAY is the 6th Australian play filmed for the cinema screen by ANTLive, whose goal is to preserve Australian theatrical heritage and to make theatre accessible to more Australians everywhere at a reasonable price.  In partnership with the Independent Cinema Association, AWAY will be screened on over 120 screens
across Australia. Thousands of Australians across the country have experienced theatre at their local cinema and they love it.

AWAY from ANTLive [Facebook] opens in selected cinemas November 17 and you can view the Trailer here.
