AGENT SHOWCASE delves deep into the psyche of two actors and explores the dichotomy between Georgie; an emerging writer and child prodigy trying to make it as a writer on the main stage and Mikaela; a literal clown who went to France to study clowning in order to be a clown who hates anything to do with main stage theatre.
They have just graduated from a prestigious (and highly expensive) Sydney acting school and are ready to take on the world (well, Sydney) and put on one last showcase in the hopes to be scouted by one of Sydney’s talent agents…
This highly bizarre comedy explores the overt division created between main stage and independent theatre companies perpetuated by the elitism of the Sydney theatre scene and shaped by many acting schools alike. It explores the intricacies of the Sydney art world, specifically that of the theatre scene and the egotism that has risen out of the formulaic art form created by main stage theatres, creating a platform that has little room for emerging artists and new Australian works.
AGENT SHOWCASE [Facebook Event] plays at Erskineville Town Hall as part of Sydney Fringe 2018, 11th-15th September.
